The 48 years, mythical tales and vinyl dreams have now at last come true. When this escapee from the Decca factory scrap-skips, this vision of beauty was found in a deceased former employee’s “Decca/London” hoard.
UNPLAYED and totally MINT
This HOLY GRAIL has since its unearthing been played twice on each side - once by the discoverer to ensure he wasn’t dreaming and it actually played the recordings the label depicted. Then the full sound files were lovingly lifted by Stella @ John Manship Records, to showcase the top quality a mint lifelong filed record emits.
It’s been in my possession now for 2 hours and my pulse is still racing. The high I’m on, is an intoxicating mix of disbelief and awe. I feel like French explorer of the New World, Father Louis Hennepin who allegedly travelled for weeks through uncharted territory, accompanied by an ever-increasing rumbling sound, until he eventually stumbled through a clearing onto the deafening vista of the Niagara Falls.

ce qui est zarb, c'est qu'un article en parlait en juin, et juste avant noël, le disque sort aux enchères. En vendant sur e bay, j'ai déjà remarqué l'impact de noel sur les ventes, c'est loin d'être négligeable. En tous cas, sur ce coup là, même si j'ai été super sage, le père noël ne veut pas surenchér pour moi...

Moi j'ai plutôt remarqué une baisse de prix à cette époque, je dois dire... Les gens mettent leur pognon pour les autres en cadeaux à cette époque j'imagine... et puis chez nous (en tout cas) y'a aussi les impôtswuga a écrit : En vendant sur e bay, j'ai déjà remarqué l'impact de noel sur les ventes, c'est loin d'être négligeable.

Boah, la Northern Soul c'est simplement la soul qu'ils aimaient dans le nord de l'Angleterre. Pour moi c'est juste un mot valise comme "popcorn" qui désigne aussi bien de la deep soul que du r'n'b-tittyshaker, mais p't'être que j'me trompe. Et partant je comprends largement pourquoi ca a autant de succèslitelet a écrit : Sinon la northern soul c'est quand même pas terrible... je capte vraiment pas pourquoi ça a un tel succès...

C'est certainement un mot valise comme tu dis, mais il me semble que ça désigne souvent l'extrême mielleux du rythm'n blues/soul quand un disque en est estampillé. C'était peut-être du goût des anglais. Une sorte de "new breed" encore plus sweet
Le popcorn a mon avis c'est la variante belge qui a prolongé la période quand ça s'éteignait aux US, même si ça correspond aussi à toutes les oldies US qu'ils se passaient aux soirées "Popcorn".
Tous ces termes sont devenus dans le rnb des équivalents de "Shaka" pour les ventes de reggae

Oué Popcorn c'était même le nom d'une discothèque en Belgique, si mes souvenirs sont exacts. En tout cas c'est vrai que, souvent, ce qui est éstampillé northern soul est plus mielleux que ce qui est estampillé "popcorn" qui est plus... remuant, quoi!
